Our Story
Welcome! We are so glad you found us. Launching in April 2026, Signing Stars was born out of a simple, powerful belief: that every baby has something to say, even before they have the words to say it. We know that the "pre-verbal" stage is such a magical time, but it can also be a little frustrating when you’re trying to figure out exactly what your little one is thinking. Our sessions are designed to bridge that gap through the joy of music, rhythm, and the power of signs.
Expertise Meets Play
The group is led by a trained Speech and Language Therapist with years of experience using signs to unlock communication—particularly for children with learning disabilities and complex needs. I’ve seen first-hand how signing reduces frustration and builds a "communication toolkit" that lasts a lifetime. I’ve taken all that clinical knowledge and poured it into a fun, low-pressure environment where we sing, play, and learn together. Whether your child is a chatterbox-in-waiting or needs a little extra support to find their voice, you’re in exactly the right place.
I look forward to seeing you and your baby here!
Who we are
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Absolutely! As soon as you feel able to venture out of the house and meet other parents! Learning to sign is like any other skill - the younger you start, the easier it will be to pick up. This is true for you as a parent/carer too; the sooner you start signing around your little one, the more natural it will become. Soon it will be a part of everyday life for you and your family.
-
Everybody learns at their own pace. The more you, as a parent/carer, sign around your child, the more likely they are to sign too. Often, a baby will use a handful of signs regularly before their first words appear.
-
Baby signing gives your child a voice before they can speak. It reduces frustration (for both you and them) and strengthens bonding.
Baby signing enables you to enter your child’s world: they can tell you what they see, what they hear, what they want and how they feel.
It also enables you to communicate with them: to tell them where you’re going, what you’re doing, what’s for dinner and what’s happening next.
And its fun!
-
In short - no.
Because we talk at the same time as signing, babies learn that signing doesn’t replace speech, it goes alongside it.
Speech is an innate ability which makes us human. As soon as your child starts to find their voice, they will want to talk just like everyone else around them. Signing gives them a tool to be able to tell you what they’re thinking before their speech kicks in.

Absolutely! Its really important that your child attends as regularly as possible, so they get the most benefit from the classes. Having a different adult attend with them occasionally will widen the circle of signing adults around your child and help spread the word of the joy of signing!
